PPPS seminar “UCD in Agile”
PPPS is monthly meeting of designers and developers in Brno. Focused on topics of UX, web development, web design etc. Mainly, it is nice evening with pleasant people bantering about web.
We gather every first Wednesday in month. This time, Jiri Močicka (http://www.givision.net/) held a seminar about User Centred Design in Agile development environment. It was packed with Jiri’s experience and great knowledge. In my opinion, it was a bit confusing in some point, but it could be due to limited time we had. Thank you Jiri, for great seminar and I am looking forward to further discussion next time.
Few things I noted down:
- UCD is expensive (But trade off is huge)
- Agile gives you option to get back to some problems, it is not linear
- Designer has to be able to describe and explain his design decisions
- Design before doing development, define your problem before designing
- First, you should ask yourself “Why am I doing this”
- Designer has to be in contact with developer (I think it can be mediated)
- Site audit – reference of what client already has
- You should document your decisions and solutions for later
- Jiri suggested use of transparent foils for wireframing phase (Great idea)
I also made few pictures during the evening:

Thanks for coming over.
UCD in many respect is actually cheapest solution but sometime in big projects if you forget some functionality or you want to integrate something completely new than become really expensive.
I wrote a post about using foil as a master for wire frame once I have a time to review and finis it I’ll share with you guys.
Once again thanks
Keep in touch.
